Ribbon microphones are well established in the studio, but their versatility is often misunderstood. We talk to producer and engineer Helge Preuss (Joris, Silbermond, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, among others) about why and how he uses the diverse range of AEA ribbon microphones on the drum set, what makes the AEA R88 so special, and what experiences he has gained in his workshops with AEA.
